Dr. Soltani is a gastroenterologist who joined the Center for Digestive Wellness from Massachusetts General Hospital/ Harvard Medical School, where he completed his gastroenterology and hepatology training. Prior to MGH, He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Cornell (New York Presbyterian Hospital- Weill Cornell Medical Center) in Manhattan, New York City. Dr. Soltani was also a research fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Professors Robert Langer and Gio Traverso’s Lab, where he studied drug development and delivery in the gastrointestinal tract. Before his residency at Cornell, after completing his medical training at Tehran University, Dr. Soltani was a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where he studied body metabolism and the mechanisms underlying nutrient absorption and smooth muscle contraction and their roles in gastrointestinal diseases such as obesity, malabsorption, gastrointestinal motility disorders (such as IBS, Gastroparesis) as well as liver diseases (such as Fatty liver diseases). Dr. Soltani has received several academic and clinical awards and published numerous papers and book chapters in prestigious scientific journals and books. He now merges his impressive academic accomplishments with his strong passion for patient care in the community.
Dr. Soltani sees patients with all gastrointestinal issues, including inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel, liver and Pancreas diseases, reflux, swallowing disorders, hemorrhoids, small bowel disorders, SIBO, and colon cancer screening. Dr. Soltani also has expertise in nutrition sciences, microbiomes, and weight management. He strongly feels that nutrition plays a crucial role in general wellness and disease prevention, particularly digestive wellness. Dr. Soltani is passionate about evidence-based personalized medicine that empowers individuals to improve their health and digestive wellness through education/knowledge about their condition, shared decision-making, and patient-physician collaboration. He is an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine and is active in teaching resident physicians and medical students. He is an active member of many medical societies, including the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), the American Gastrointestinal Association (AGA), the American Association of Study of Liver diseases (AASLD), and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. Outside work, Dr. Soltani enjoys reading books, oil painting, and spending time with his family and friends.
